My Little Pony

I've been playing with learning the settings on my camera. So, this shot is my attempt at playing with Depth of Field. Meaning you can see the Main subject very clearly, and the back objects are "blurred" Or you can see the "Main Subject" clearly in the back and the front subject is blurry. So... I was taking photos of the only subjects in the house that would sit still for me. ;) And pose the way I needed them to. LOL! My kids are tired of me sticking the camera in their faces and asking them to pose while I learn how to use my camera. ;) So... the My little ponies got their picture taken a hundred times while i played with aperature settings, shutter speed, ISO and the room lighting and flash. Well... as you can see, I still need some work, but liked this result better than my first attempts.

Shot of the Month

I love this photo because of the reflection I caught in the "pond" in front of the barn. This shot has a rustic feel to it, and I'm actually considering blowing it up and framing it to use as decoration in my home. The red really pops on the dark and dismal winter day.

Some Photography Thoughts

I love my new camera! In this shot I set up my new tripod and "framed" the shot before I jumped in behind my kids with the "self timer" ticking away.... The kids thought it was funny that I was going to be in the picture with them. I usually have it pointed at them. (They hate being my guinea pigs and models!) :) But they are too cute to not take photos of! The day was kinda overcast and chilly, but my pic's came out pretty good. I'm thinking that the more sunlight the more chance of glare and overexposure. But I still have a long way to go in learning about lighting and all the technical jargon of the photography world. I definately have the eye for composition and design, but it's all the little things (which make a huge difference in photography) that I need help on. Like shutter speed, aperature, ISO, Lighting, etc... I'm taking some online courses and playing around as much as possible with my camera to get a feel for working in the creative modes. I want to start taking photos of people besides those I live with soon. I want to gain some experience of being on a photo shoot and having multiple people to shoot at once. I've done some work with Mike Allebach for the Church photography ministry. Which is a great experience for me, and I keep thinking, that I want/need more! I've never been this passionate over any interest in my life. I love photos, I love family and I love memories, I love being creative and so photography seems like the perfect fit for me. Hopefully I can rope Jason into building a business model around my passion and the two of us can be a team to reckon with! :) Until then, I'm just hoping to gain experience and continue to work with Mike Allebach, as he's is super talented and knowledgeable and you have to check out his stuff! http://www.allebachphotography.com/about.html He also has a blog which you can access on the right hand side where I have my blog list!
